Property Management
Value + Visibility

Helping property management teams recognize, document and communicate the value they create.

Commercial properties are complex businesses, and much of the work that creates value happens behind the scenes. Property managers make decisions every day that affect operations, tenant experience, asset performance and ownership objectives—but they don’t always have the opportunity to step back, recognize that work and communicate its significance.

That’s where I tend to come in.

THE WORK

Recognize It. Document It. Make It Visible.

Recognize the Value

See the operational excellence, leadership and decision-making that can become invisible when it’s simply part of the day-to-day work.

Develop + Document It

Use established frameworks and programs to evaluate performance, identify strengths and opportunities, and document the practices that create value.

Make It Visible

Translate that work into stronger submissions, certifications, recognition and communications that demonstrate the value of the property and the people behind it.

Competition Creates a Framework for Getting Better

MORE THAN AN AWARD

Everyone needs a framework for understanding where they are, what excellence looks like and where there is room to improve. Competition can provide that framework.

The Outstanding Building of the Year (TOBY) Awards evaluates far more than the building itself. The criteria examine community impact, occupant and employee relations, sustainability, accessibility, emergency preparedness, personnel training and overall building performance, along with a comprehensive inspection by industry professionals.

For property managers, that creates an opportunity to step outside the demands of running a building and look more deliberately at what their teams are doing, where they’re excelling and where they can get better.

Done well, the process develops the property manager—not just the entry.

Value + Visibility For Building Service Providers

Understanding the Sophisticated Buyer

Commercial property managers are sophisticated buyers. They are balancing the needs of ownership, tenants, operations, budgets, risk and the long-term performance of the asset.

For building service providers, involvement in programs like TOBY offers a valuable look inside that world. It creates a better understanding of what property managers are accountable for, how service partners contribute to building performance, and what makes a vendor relationship truly valuable.

The better you understand your buyer’s business, the better partner you can become.

EXPERIENCE BEHIND THE WORK

Jackie Awve has worked with BOMA and the TOBY program for more than a decade, supporting local programs and developing award-winning regional and international submissions for commercial properties.

Her work includes three International TOBY-winning submissions: Shanghai Tower in Shanghai, HaiTian Center in Qingdao, and Baptist Health Plantation Medical Office Building in Plantation, Florida. For the two China properties, she worked from materials translated from Mandarin to uncover and communicate the operational excellence behind highly complex buildings.

Her work also includes BOMA 360 certification projects and Brand Stewardship programs for property management teams. She was appointed to serve a two-year term on the BOMA International Awards Committee. Learn more about Jackie
