It doesn’t take fancy-schmancy to make an impression. A well-organized, thoughtful presentation works too.

Today, I had the chance to give back to an association that has been very good to me. BOMA Fort Lauderdale/Palm Beaches (BOMA FTLPB) is a local trade association that serves commercial property managers and their service providers. These are the people that make the buildings we work in and visit operational and more pleasant.
I have been a member of BOMA FTLPB since I returned to the workforce in 2007. The friends and mentors that I have gained through my membership and involvement have been invaluable. I credit them with helping me to find my career calling and start my business as a Marketing Consultant.

So what happened at the meeting?

Like any meeting sponsor, I had the opportunity to present to the membership, hand out my business cards and any promotional material I had. As a marketing consultant, the expectation to be original is a somewhat higher. I knew that I wanted to peak curiosities and encourage action. Beyond that, I wanted to show how you can integrate marketing channels to engage beyond the moment of presentation and how to use online marketing as a tool.

What did the guests find?

If you were there, you would know that when everyone arrived there was a small gift box that was simply wrapped at each place setting. It contained no message or branding, but the presentation did imply an invitation to open the box. It seemed like a clever way to stimulate curiosity and present my business card along with some chocolate.

Keep it going.

To keep the engagement going, I turned my business card into a raffle ticket by writing a number on every card. My client, Crown Center Executive Suites, generously donated tickets and parking to the Florida Panthers hockey game next week so that I could offer a very cool prize. I asked everyone to visit me here on my blog this afternoon to find out who the winner is. I pushed out a reminder to check my blog on Facebook, LinkedIn and via email. In the marketing business, we call that integration.

And the winner is..

I am happy to announce the winner is Number 26. Number 26, I have no idea who you are, but I look forward to hearing from you. Just send me an email at Jackie@awvemarketing.com to claim your prize.
